This monitoring was formalized as the Bedford Basin Monitoring Program (BBMP), a weekly time series, in 1999. Dalhousie University joined the BBMP in 2008 to begin a bio-optical time series, beginning a close relationship between academic and government researchers. This dataset consists of data collected by a Bio Optical Profiler (BOP)which is a series of instruments mounted on a large cage. There are no measurements taken in August of each year as the vessel is away for maintenance. The Bedford Basin station (BB1) is at 44.693611 N, -63.640278 E and has a maximum depth of 73 m, though the instruments are typically only sent to 60 m. This dataset is made of daily 1-km resolution images containing satellite Chl-a values computed using the OCxSPM-cor algorithm, covering the period from Sep 1997 to present day over the Bay of Fundy (43.1-46.2°N, 63.1-68.8°W). Regionally-tuned coefficients for OCxSPM-cor Chl-a (Wilson et al., 2024, see resources) were obtained by matching satellite pixels to in situ Turner fluorometry Chl-a samples within the region of interest. OCxSPM-cor Chl-a optimization used a linear regression of OCxSPM-cor against Turner that was forced to the 1:1 line to reduce the negative bias observed in higher concentrations in the default global Chl-a models. Daily Chl-a images were generated by applying the optimized OCxSPM-cor algorithm on level-3 binned remote sensing reflectance (Rrs) data from the OC-CCI multisensor product generated by the Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) as part of the European Space Agency (ESA) climate change initiative. The Chl-a data were then projected onto an Equidistant Cylindrical grid (1x1 km per pixel) using a nearest neighbour method. This model and the coefficients computed for the Northwest Atlantic and Bay of Fundy are available in the R package oceancolouR (https://github.com/BIO-RSG/oceancolouR).\n\ncdm_data_type = Grid\nVARIABLES (all of which use the dimensions [time][latitude][longitude]):\nchlor_a (Chlorophyll-a Concentration (OCxSPMcor model with coefficients optimized to OC-CCI multisensor product  in the Bay of Fundy), mg/m3)\n https://dev.cioosatlantic.ca/erddap/metadata/fgdc/xml/bio_remote_sensing_occci_ocxspmcorchla_fgdc.xml https://dev.cioosatlantic.ca/erddap/metadata/iso19115/xml/bio_remote_sensing_occci_ocxspmcorchla_iso19115.xml https://dev.cioosatlantic.ca/erddap/info/bio_remote_sensing_occci_ocxspmcorchla/index.htmlTable https://bio-rsg.github.io/ (external link) https://dev.cioosatlantic.ca/erddap/rss/bio_remote_sensing_occci_ocxspmcorchla.rss https://dev.cioosatlantic.ca/erddap/subscriptions/add.html?datasetID=bio_remote_sensing_occci_ocxspmcorchla&showErrors=false&email= dfo_bio bio_remote_sensing_occci_ocxspmcorchla

Ocean gliders were first acquired by Fisheries and Oceans Canada in year 2017 and 2018 for both the West and East coasts. On the East coast, they have been used to monitor hydrographic sections associated with the AZMP.
