This monitoring was formalized as the Bedford Basin Monitoring Program (BBMP), a weekly time series, in 1999. Dalhousie University joined the BBMP in 2008 to begin a bio-optical time series, beginning a close relationship between academic and government researchers. This dataset consists of data collected by a Bio Optical Profiler (BOP)which is a series of instruments mounted on a large cage. There are no measurements taken in August of each year as the vessel is away for maintenance. The Bedford Basin station (BB1) is at 44.693611 N, -63.640278 E and has a maximum depth of 73 m, though the instruments are typically only sent to 60 m. Calibration coefficients are available upon request.\n\ncdm_data_type = TimeSeries\nVARIABLES:\ntime (time of measurement, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\nstation_id (Station Identifier)\nwind_direction (Wind From Direction, compass_point)\nwind_speed (knots)\nair_temperature (degree_Celsius)\ncloud_cover (Cloud Area Fraction, 1)\nestimated_wave_height (m)\nsecchi_depth (Secchi Disk Depth in Sea Water, m)\nsea_surface_temperature (degree_Celsius)\nsea_surface_salinity (PSU)\nlatitude (degrees_north)\nlongitude (degrees_east)\nbackscattering_blue_470nm (Volume scattering of blue light (470 nm), m^-1/sr)\nbackscattering_green_525nm (Volume scattering of green light (525 nm), m^-1/sr)\nbackscattering_red_700nm (Volume scattering of red light (700 nm), m^-1/sr)\nbackscattering_green_at_100_deg (Volume scattering of green light (532 nm) at 100°, m^-1/sr)\nbackscattering_green_at_125_deg (Volume scattering of green light (532 nm) at 125°, m^-1/sr)\nbackscattering_green_at_150_deg (Volume scattering of green light (532 nm) at 150°, m^-1/sr)\nbackscattering_red_at_100_deg (Volume scattering of red light (650 nm) at 100°, m^-1/sr)\n... The buoy is positioned at the mouth of Placentia Bay in water depth of about 230 m.The buoy is capable of measuring a variety of atmospheric and surface conditions: wind speed and direction, air temperature, humidity, dew point, barometric pressure, sea surface temperature, current speed, current direction, wave height, wave direction and wave period. The buoy is also equipped with an Aids to Navigation Information System (ATONiS) allowing direct transmittal of the buoy data to a ship's bridge.\n\ncdm_data_type = TimeSeries\nVARIABLES:\nstation_name\ntime (Timestamp, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\nlongitude (degrees_east)\nlatitude (degrees_north)\nprecise_lon (Precise Longitude, degrees_east)\nprecise_lat (Precise Latitude, degrees_north)\nwind_spd_avg (m s-1)\nwind_spd_max (m s-1)\nwind_dir_avg (Wind From Direction, degree)\nwind_spd2_avg (m s-1)\nwind_spd2_max (m s-1)\nwind_dir2_avg (Wind From Direction, degree)\nair_temp_avg (degree_C)\nair_pressure_avg (Air Pressure, mbar)\nair_humidity_avg (1)\nair_dewpoint_avg (degree_C)\nsurface_temp_avg (degree_C)\nwave_ht_max (m)\nsurface_salinity_avg (Sea Water Salinity, 1e-3)\nsurface_cond_avg (S m-1)\nwave_ht_sig (m)\n...
